DOJ Authorized Fitz to Go after Perjurers

March 8, 2007 · Leave a Comment

In a February, 2004 letter from the Acting Attorney General of the United States, to Patrick Fitzgerald, the AG specifically charged Fitzgerald with the authority to go after anyone who tried to interfere with his investigation of the alleged unauthorized disclosure of Plame’s identity.

At your request, I am writing to clarify that my December 30, 2003, delegation to you of “all the authority of the Attorney General with respect to the Department’s investigation into the alleged unauthorized disclosure of a CIA employee’s identity” is plenary and includes the authority to investigate and prosecute violations of any federal criminal laws related to the underlying alleged unauthorized disclosure, as well as federal crimes committed in the course of, and with intent to interfere with, your investigation, such as perjury, obstruction of justice….

It’s like Fitzgerald expected obstruction, destruction of evidence, and perjury, and asked permission in advance to expand his investigation if needed.

Democrats Subpoena – Bush Cronies Squirm

Remember that Eddie Murphy joke? “I’m a redneck’s worst nightmare: a [N word deleted] with a badge”?

Well, the GOP has a similar nightmare. A Nancy Pelosi led House with subpoena power. This is going to be fun!

Clinton Grammys

February 27, 2007 · Leave a Comment

With Gore being honored on stage at the Academy Awards last night for his role in inspiring the making of An Inconvenient Truth, I was reminded of the Grammys won by President and Mrs. Clinton. From The New Zealand Herald:

LOS ANGELES – Former US President Bill Clinton won the second Grammy Award of his career, when he was honoured in the spoken word category for his best-selling memoir My Life.

Clinton, who was not present to accept his award at the Los Angeles Convention Centre, also won a Grammy last year in the spoken word for children category. His wife, US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, won a spoken word Grammy in 1997 for her memoir It Takes A Village.

Between President and Senator Clinton, they have three Grammys. Amazing. Between Cheney and Bush, on the other hand, there are three DUI convictions.
